- Client: A Swiss IT company, formed by a group of professionals with different skills in the IT sector, in the three-dimensional design of systems and in maintenance engineering.
- Project duration: Sep-Oct 2020
- Roles I assumed: Visual Designer, UX Designer, UI Designer
- Project goal:
Redesign the website to reflect the brand, restructure the information, and potentially increase new sign-ups.
Project Brief
This project was born from the idea of a developer friend, Andrea, to combine our skills in a web design project.
During the project brief, I was introduced to Luigi who was the CEO and Lead Developer of 3UNITS TECHNOLOGY. We talked about the goal of the project, the timing of the project and the purpose of the redesign.
I know how important it is to involve stakeholders in the UX process.
Competitive Analysis
At this point, we wanted to know who our close competitors are. I also wanted to know the trends in the IT and engineering sector in terms of theme and style. I have visited multiple websites and noted several similarities. Patterns began to emerge.
Content control and Information Architecture
Next, I looked at the current 3UNITS TECNOLOGY website. Andrea informed me that the contents and the information architecture had recently been revised. I took this into consideration and made an assessment: it made sense to focus efforts on organizing and structuring the content according to the goal of the redesign.
Sketches
We then proceeded to draw different layouts for the home page. My goal in this home solution is to grab people’s attention and provide context on what the company is about in seconds.
To do this, we needed visual resources to illustrate the service.
The subpages were simple and can be improved by changing the layout and typography.
Wireframe and mockup
A week later, I sent Andrea the first high fidelity mockups and we discussed some doubts related to usability and in particular to the navigation structure.
Let’s focus on the homepage
I have developed a minimal and clean graphic: in the home page there is only a slider that shows the main sections of the site. I used the colors of the logo:shades of blue, white and orange as an accent color.
The images on the site are very technical and not exactly captivating, I have looked for more photographic images and I have tried to standardize their style by playing with shades of blue.
I have inserted a hamburger menu, which takes up less space, leaving the screen more minimal and clean. This type of menu is also easier for the user to open and close.
Conclusion
This is a partial ending, as the project is currently under review by the client, so I was only able to share a small part of it.
